The Spark Music Academy was founded in 2010 by musician Dan Hay. After years of touring the world in bands such as Amos the Transparent, Hay was ready to start a new chapter. Armed with an honours degree in education from the University of Ottawa as well as years of experience as a professional musician, Hay began creating a lesson studio that focused on individualistic learning.  With an emphasis on-one-on one private lessons, Hay developed a teaching style built around finding out exactly what each student was interested in and catering the lessons towards their interests and learning style. As interest and demand in the studio grew, Hay began building a team of like-minded talented teachers. 

Why the Spark? We believe that a lifelong love of playing music often starts with a small spark of interest.  Children, teens, and adults of all abilities can find that spark as we guide them through the learning process
